We Focus! As opposed to other "resume" sites, we do not register current professionals. Instead we focus on entry-level individuals who are starting or building toward their professional careers...

How does AI's Student Directory work?
Why do Hiring Companies work with us?

Students and New Grads register with us free of charge to gain exposure to thousands of nationwide companies who are actively seeking entry or junior level candidates. We provide our free service to every student at every school in the country and offer students the highest visibility possible in the active job market.

The best part is that while we do help students build their own resume, nobody needs a finished resume to register here....Why not? Because often Human Resource managers won't even have time to review every sentence of an individual resume, instead they'll glance over each looking for key details. That's EXACTLY what AI provides - in a condensed form! When students register with our Student Directory, what HR sees is a concentrated, skillset-specific summary of background and interests!

So, while hiring companies are reviewing a student's qualification-summary online in our Student Directory, the same student is proactively developing his/her resume utilizing tips from our Advice Forum or Q&A Site - getting ready for that hiring manager's call!

How does the Student Directory work?

Who's eligible?
Anyone who is currently attending or has recently graduated from College or University - and is not a working professional.
What kind of information must students/new grads provide?
Contact information is required, but for the actual registration, students select the priorities, interests, and requirements by which they wish to be identified.

Let's consider a simplified example: (Keep in mind that students can get as detailed as they'd like!)

A student is interested in Technical Marketing positions in Information Technology which are located in Alaska, California, or New Jersey. Let's say that student is into personal fitness and therefore will be more interested companies with health facilities on-site or subsidized healthclub memberships. Also, the student has prior Co-op experience working for 2 months as a Marketing Assistant at an Athletic Sneaker Company (which paid a minimal salary).

During Registration, the student selects the following information:

Classify Your Degree Program and Greatest Interest! (pick your top 3...)
Selection 1: Advertising/Marketing-Account Management
Selection 2: Engineering-Publications
Selection 3: Other-Marketing

Choose Your Destination! (Again, pick your top 3...)
Selection 1: Alaska-Anchorage
Selection 2: California-San Francisco
Selection 3: New Jersey-Newark

Now the hiring company's side of the fence... Each company we work with uses our unique Directory Search Engine or automated Job Posting site to select and locate candidates who match their specific criteria.

A Media-Communications company, ABC, in San Diego uses our search engine and specifies: Candidates interested in the San Diego area, BA degree in Marketing, with some practical experience and solid technical coursework.

Our Search Engine matches any student who's interests and qualifications match those of Company ABC and highlights those students as a matches with accuracy. As company ABC reviews a particular student's Directory Registration they see whichever personal and professional interests the student elected to mention. They come to the rapid conclusion that can call that student with confidence because company ABC provides full benefits, offers a nonsmoking environment, and provides health facility discounts.

Company ABC reaches the student by email, telephone, fax, or mail to discuss potential interest in their company. Both company and student are reassured that the conversation they have will be positive based on a high percentage of criteria-matches - and best of all, this whole process happens BEFORE graduation!

This means students and hiring companies talk based on exactly the specifications each are looking for, with exactly the right educational background in exactly the right geographic area!

Why do companies work with Access Interactive?

Consider some other methods companies can employ to locate entry or junior level candidates: Post an internal company bulletin, advertise in a local newspaper, post a job on the webpage or to a newsgroup, attend a job fair at a specific college or university, or maybe even employ a recruiting firm or placement agency.

Let's address these points in context:

Internal bulletins are friend-of-a-friend type advertising and are low-cost. However, many unqualified people may come forward with resumes and expect preferential treatment from the company = time investment too high.

Advertising in newspapers can be prohibitively expensive costing anywhere from $500 for a 4"x4" ad in a small local paper, to $5000 for the same in a more widely distributed paper. Considering the costs, a company may run ads every week for specific skillsets like Product Managers or Senior Software Engineers, but rarely will a company orient an advertisement toward entry or junior level candidates. In addition many unqualified people will apply = time and financial investment too high.

Posting on the Internet or on a Website is easy, quick, and inexpensive and is potentially seen by millions of people. How many Human Resource people do you think it will take to look at each resume for accurate background and qualifications? = time investment too high.

Attending a job fair is a possibility for most companies. However, job fairs require significant advertising (newspaper, radio, etc.) and significant time investment to meet and interview many attendees = time and financial investment too high.

Recruiting firms and placement agencies are paid fees to match people with jobs. Sometimes the candidate will pay a small fee to the agency, usually a couple of hundred dollars. More often, the agency will collect a fee from the hiring company which is a percentage of your salary. These fees are huge, sometimes as high as 30% of the candidate's salary (i.e. salary =$30,000, company fee=$9,000). Again, a company may consider engaging recruiters and agencies when looking for a very specific or high demand skillset, but rarely when looking for a junior or entry level candidate = financial investment too high.

With us, companies have a streamlined alternative - our Student Directory! We provide companies with a completely organized method of finding exclusively qualified and interested entry and junior level individuals at minimal time and financial investment.

Each of our client companies uses our unique Directory Search Engine, or our automated Job Posting engine, to select and locate candidates who match specific criteria. This means that when you locate candidates, they'll come from individuals seeking exactly the specifications you are looking for, with exactly the right educational background in exactly the right geographic area.
